rjofig@gmail.comRenato @ Florida; I bought and started learning to play guitar about two years ago, a bit late in life (I am 39). Still a beginner, but motivated and inspired by Fil and other 'bedroom rockers'. I've been posting a few videos here and sound bites on soundcloud, as sort of a logbook with snippets of how my playing (hopefully) evolves, and it may help inspire others who love music to take an instrument, practice, play, and have fun. To contact me by email, my gmail.com username is the same as my username here.

Posted at 10:36h, 03 FebruaryGreat playing again. You’ve obviously been practicing long & hard. π Nice job man.

Posted at 19:00h, 31 JanuaryVery nice playing again, Renato. You are practising a lot, right? π

Posted at 20:04h, 31 JanuaryThanks, Franz. I’m trying my best to find time to practice ‘opportunistically’, unplugged, when others are around, watching TV, etc; it’s hard to find lots of dedicated time π

Posted at 20:27h, 31 JanuaryYeah, similar here. Have an agreement with my wife where I only play loud every 2nd day. So I’m playing mostly only every 2nd day and sometimes unplugged or with the mini Vox amp. So yes, it’s hard to find dedicated time for me too π

Posted at 20:40h, 31 JanuaryYou got a good deal, I don’t get to play real-loud, only headphone-loud π I only have a practice amp that, between mini Vox and GR4, doesn’t see much use.

Posted at 20:55h, 31 JanuaryYes, well, I get the volume up to the level of a very loud TV, otherwise the neighbors would lynch me π But it’s already loud, yeah. My wife is sitting right next to me on the sofa now, so I told her about your comment and thanked her for this π

Posted at 19:17h, 01 FebruaryHeh, when I get a decent amp I’ll be motivated. Right now Guitar Rig gives the best sound (plus the tape deck, slowed-down tempo and recording features), so I gravitate towards using it most of the time.

Posted at 07:31h, 02 FebruaryYeah, Guitar Rig has a really good sound and is maybe the best alternative to a tube amp. I would prefer Guitar Rig over my little Marshall MG 15.

Posted at 16:06h, 31 JanuaryAh, good song. Your cover of it is pretty good too. You should work on getting that bass note of the G chord in there too during the regular riff.
You’re doing great mate!

Posted at 17:02h, 31 JanuaryThanks, Hyce.
This is something I’m not sure: is the bass G note played in this song or not? If I remember correctly in one of Fil’s tutorial he played without the bass G, and in this song it sounds to me like it’s only the higher notes being played. It might be Angus doesn’t play it but Malcolm does.
Cheers,
Hyce
Posted at 01:24h, 01 FebruaryNo idea, I usually just play it with it. It helps “strengthen” the chord, ya know?
rjofig
Posted at 02:14h, 01 FebruaryYeah, I should probably try this way too and see which sounds better. The regular riff in this song always sounded more on the treble side to me. cheers,
Hyce

There you go, malcolm is all over that root note there.

Posted at 14:42h, 07 FebruaryHah, great find – indeed he is! And he’s also playing the full D chord. Thanks for posting, Hyce!

Posted at 13:49h, 31 JanuaryAnother song I’ve been having fun playing. Recorded with Guitar Rig 4, and an Epiphone SG.
