I have been playing guitar for years a years and years, When I pick up my guitar its like a long lost friend or an ex girlfriend that I always wanted to get back together with again, Basically that warm and fuzzy feeling inside. But more than often than not I feel disappointed or burnt out or I just feel like I’m maxed out on what I want to do with my talent that God blessed me with. I will truly say to you that you make me want to play more, strive to be better and just basically get me excited about playing again. Thank you.
I’ve always wondered how he got the guitar sound on some songs. Like on “Long Time”. The guitar sound has quite a bit of gain and has some real bite to it. You can really hear it when he does the little power chord thing toward the end of the song. This sure doesn’t sound like it was just the magic of a power soak.
Any ideas on this?
It’s a long story, and a lot of details to uncover for that sound. This is part of the solodallas.net project, and when the Boston covers will be done here, I will go at lengths describing and simulating Boston guitar tone! 😉
Awesome cover. Looked like you were having a lot of fun. I’d love to see you cover some other Boston songs, like Foreplay/Long Time, Cool the Engines, or Rock and Roll Band.

Posted at 14:40h, 14 AugustThe boston tone is so hard to get, are you using one of those tom sholtz rockman things here?

Posted at 14:43h, 14 AugustTrue. Nope, didn’t use it here (though I have one, a very old one). Just equalization here, and a bad microphone! (laughs)
