Very cool.
That guitar is making a big sence to the sound. I would never get that tone out of my SG copy with Guitar Rig 4. The Gretsch got something that really colours the sound.
At least not with the humbuckers … The Filtertron is really “singlecoilish” never heard that before, but it gives the sound that little extra (is THAT maybe “that great Gretsch Sound”??) xDxD
Another great one. Just love your playing style.
And regarding the strings, yeah, I changed mine also today and now I know the old ones did sound like a package cord on a yoghurt cup, hehe ๐
Yes, same here. Mine were also about 4 weeks old.
I’ve read somewhere that the strings should be changed after circa 20-40 hours of playing depending on the playing style. Maybe we should just halve the string changing interval ๐
Hehe, well, even for me and my poor playing (trying to get the Highway to Hell basics right these days) it’s a big difference with new strings on. So I think for a pro it must be a really huge difference.
As far as I remember, Ang and Mal have new strings at every gig.
And my local dealer here gives me a discount If I buy 10 packs at one time ๐
So, this is just a quick one to test the sound with Guitar Rig 4 … I’m quite happy, but still some room for tonal improvements … little to much trebble on either the Amp or the cabinet .. a neverending story^^
An I now know the holy secret of Malcolms tone: new strings!! lol^^
Nice cover!
Yes, about strings, seems to me not only it sounds better, but they’re more comfortable to fret, bend, slide, etc, and that contributes even if it’s just a bit to a better overall quality.

Posted at 00:46h, 05 JanuaryThats it dude! The before-after sound after string changing is outstanding … I asked myself how I could play with (“just”) 1-month old strings xD
