Scot living in France for last 25 years.
Decided to pick up a guitar and learn years ago.
Decided to pick up a guitar and PLAY after seeing Fil on Youtube
Nice one Frank! My question is: “a couple of months” of practicing YSMANL or when you pick the guitar for the first time? π Either way it is a great step.
Cheers!
Thanks a lot laddies. Bit of a misunderstanding here.
“Still see how much progress in a couple of months” means I’ll try again in a couple of months.
Actually I’ve been sweating down in the basement since september and I am firmly set on sweating a whole lot more to get this under my belt.
Renato ya got it. I knew there was something wrong. Needs to be more choppier or as Fil once said “Chunka, chunka”. Well maybe he didn’t but he could have. I tried it more this afternoon, way better.
This was my first ever solo cover, and with hind-sight (hind-hearing?) I’ve gotta get a lot more fluid, more legato instead of one note after the other.
Must say though that as per usual, SoloDallas members are true to themselves, helpful, encouraging, constructive. I was expulsing small rectangular oven fired building units from my lower colon before posting this. Thanks for all your comments, confidence building A1
cheers
Frank! Good to see you finally π !
Not bad at all Frank. A little miracle in only two months.
Let’s not fool with ourselves: this is a catchy song, one of rock’s catchiest maybe. Simple, but not easy. I know too well. Excellent one, and great sound, really.
Nice job! You seem very relaxed when playing, which is wonderful to see. Personally, I have a problem with being too tense and end up fighting the song more than I need to. Thanks for sharing your video.
Frank – very happy to see you in action, man!
A couple of months? This is great! I remember, it took me such a long time to even start getting the rhythm barely right, the C/G chord transition being tricky.
One piece of constructive feedback – on the rhythm part, try to work with your palm to mute – your timing is just fine, but the chords tend to ring longer than the original. Cheers!

Hey Frank, nice to see you! That one is my favourite, still struggling with the last few seconds of the solo here. Nice playing anyway, was fun to watch and hear π
First vid for Solodallas, so you can all see my mug. YSMANL with fluffs , bad bends and approximative solo, but you have to start somewhere!
Over dubbed the solo as the first was even worse.
Still see how much progress in a couple of months.
