14 Sep The Schaffer Replica at Guitar Player!
Dear Members,
Of course the TSR has been something of a secret… You know, labor of love here on SD. But a lot of things are converging… Our first production run – sold out on the GT and on the pedal – the great unsolicited comments our first users have begun posting here… Then, Fil’s trip to Vancouver to meet with Angus, and the new album – possibly before the end of the year, to celebrate AC/DC’s 4 decades!!
And now the TSR, that started as a “little special something” for our SoloDallas members… is breaking out: we just got the news that “Guitar Player” Magazine has just today published a sneak preview, “The “Secret” of Angus Young’s Classic AC/DC Guitar Sound?” about the TSR. (If you remember, it was a February 1984 “Guitar Player” interview with Angus Young, when asked “Do you use any effects,” he said “I only use a Schaffer-Vega wireless” which brought Fil on the right track on his search for the “Back in Black” tone.)
From the few hundred units we built and sold to SD members during our first production, word has already spread and we’re up to our eyeballs in store and distributor requests… and deciding right now whether to keep the TSR a special βboutiqueβ pedal or to commit to a much bigger production run.
Please enjoy GP’s first article – and video – ever mentioning our TSR here:
Guitar Player Magazine Online – The Schaffer Replica.
They even made a short unboxing video… with a really solid peek at “before” and “after”!
Enjoy,
Franz

Posted at 21:18h, 09 OctoberThat’s awesome ! I can’t wait. Thanks for sharing that vid Kyle, Fil totally nailed it ON AIR ! haha My TSL60 sounds ok thought my Vs412 cabs, better through the 1960a cab, but it’s still missing that Woody smoothness and creamy brights. So when I get my TSR I’m gonna see how it sounds, but my guess is that I’m not gonna be satisfied until I run my SG Standard through a 1959 or YJM that’s energizing 8 x G12-65’s, all Via the TSR. It’s that sweet spot that I have to have, I’ve been chasing it since my old band days, 25 yrs ago. Excited to be back on the journey to back in black…..and with a lot of company π

Posted at 19:20h, 09 OctoberOmg ! I can’t wait to get my pedal ! Haha Piecing together gear at the moment, have a TSL 60 and a JCM 1960a cab, and a stack of VS412 cabs, gonna trade up for a YJM 100 and a stack of 1960 AX/BX cabs. That should put me right on the doorstep of the great one….. Yes ? π

Posted at 19:24h, 09 OctoberYour pedal just left the house today, sent you a notification π
I would wait and see where the clean or crunch channel of your DSL will take you to. The TSR loves clean and clean-dirty amps. Maybe your DSL will make you happy as well, especially if the VS412 cabs have Greenbacks.

Posted at 20:12h, 16 SeptemberGreat news!
I’d totally love to see this beauty take over the world simply because it’s not limited to just Angus’ tone. The unit can deliver a variety of tones with different amps and with different settings.

Posted at 19:04h, 15 SeptemberThat is AMAZING!!! I’m so happy for you guys!!
Although the video did remind me – are GT members still going to get stickers mailed to them?
banane
Posted at 21:45h, 15 SeptemberThank you π Yes, we did not forget about sending the stickers. Fil is just too busy at the moment with some bigger private (positive, nothing bad) changes.

Posted at 04:51h, 15 SeptemberYeah that’s great and happy for you guys….Maybe you could change a little something if you decided to mass produce. Something small like maybe color or something so at least the original group that bought there’s will feel they have something a bit more special but either way still awesome!!

Posted at 21:49h, 15 SeptemberWell, we’ll see. We have a few ideas for the future, but its too early to talk about that for now π
