With this video I am starting to release a number of videos (around 10) from edited footage shot recently. This one features an Angus Young Signature played on this Metro (Metropoulos amplification) and on a vintage original 1969 Marshall 4×12 non slanted cabinet with original, vintage G12s in it.
Video will end at a given moment as camera died. But the sound was still recorded (separately) so it will play back.
Information about Metro Amps here: http://metroamp.com/
If you decide to contact Metro, please let them know you came from SoloDallas – aka Fil – I’d love to get some recognition for this and slowly transform this site into a small business.

Posted at 09:00h, 10 AprilHi Fil, this is my first post, comment, etc.. First I would like to thank you for such a great site. Everything is so well done, and you play great. I watch and try to pick up on the little things you do while playing. I know you have guitars I can only dream about owning. But, I am a proud owner of a 2006 Angus signature, that is the only guitar I ever wanted. I wanted to ask you your opinion of the first A.Y. generation. Is it a good model to have and keep for future appreciation, and do you think it is of good quality? Mine is in great shape. I’m lucky to have it.

Posted at 02:10h, 28 AugustI don’t know what kind of pickup fit on my sg… I like this sound, better Pearly Gates pickups or angus young for my sg special faded?
I play a marhsall plexi 1987x, now I have the 490t but I want more bass and attack.
Can you help me ?
thanks

Posted at 00:44h, 27 DecemberHey SoloDallas I was wondering about the C chord on you shook me… when you play the C chord do u play it as 1st fret B string, open G string, 2nd fret D string and 3rd fret A string, or does it sound better if you let your ring finger mute the 2nd fret D string by fretting the 3rd fret A string and letting it rest on the D string?

Posted at 20:23h, 16 SeptemberThat sound killer!
What did they change to the bridge pickup on this model?
The wiring? Can the modification be copied if someone wants to try it on their own newly bought Pearly Gates bridge pickup?
That’s a really nice tone you got there 🙂

Posted at 06:27h, 23 Septembernah, my guess would be a different winding. the wiring, ive heard that the tone contolls are out of the circuit, so pu->switch->volume pot->jack. But the Pickup seems to be a bit “overwound” just as the Gibson AY PU is supposed to mimic an overwound P.A.F. . The PGs are a copy of the Pickups found in Billy Gibbons 59 Les Paul, so theyre also a PAF Reissue thing, they sound gread even unmodded – Angus likes the moderate-higher output because it realy helps to drive a non master volume amp with a lets call it limited amount of natural gain. So the Preamp is pushed a little harder on these Amps and you get it fatter and more ripping. So an overwound PAF still sounds like a PAF and not any HiGaing sh** and drives your amp better. But the overwound thing can also effect the eq of the PU, dont know since i didnt get one of these VOS reissues anymore.
Cheers

Posted at 16:32h, 14 SeptemberYou know Fil, if you’d like to make it into a small business and release a dvd, or make part of the site a paid content area, I would love to support you! I’d snatch that up in a second.

Posted at 16:42h, 14 SeptemberTHAT helps my thinking. Thank you 🙂
I’d rather let the users have all FREE always and have advertising to pay for this. Should it not work (i.e., uninterested advertisers) I may leave everything free or If I can’t sustain it, maybe do as you just suggested 🙂

Posted at 23:21h, 14 SeptemberHaha, yeah, Im not against free content either, but you have no idea how thrilled I was when I found this site– I saw “Browse Premium Content” at the bottom and whipped out my credit card. I was really happy when I registered and didnt have to pay, but I think it would be pretty special to see a DVD of like an all-in-one gear tour, software tutorials, all that jaz1z

Posted at 14:48h, 14 JanuaryI agree for the DVD, it’s a great idea

Posted at 15:21h, 14 SeptemberOk, i know Angus doesn’t ,(don’t know about the other members but i doupt anyone) uses pedals or anything like that, but what do you think of this one? I don’t know if what i’am gonna post now is gonna be ”taboo” considering it’s about vintage gear, music and such here mostly but i’ll take the chance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntepQvucDfY
Ok Angus would probubly never use it, but could it still be an option if you can’t afford and/or find a plexi?
I don’t like pedals and stuff like this mostly, i like when stuff(amps for one part) is simple(imo the more crap in the way, the ”worse” the sound), i don’t want hundreds of knobs and effects i’ll probubly never uses, i play clean or chrunch for most part, but this one doesnt seem to bad or what do people think?
Not advertising or anything but this caught my attention a bit.

Posted at 16:38h, 14 Septemberthere is only one pedal that comes close to a cranked plexi, and only if its hooked into a “clean” plexi (volume around 3) and that is the ZVex Box of Rock. Nothing else buddy the rest is just toys.

Posted at 16:44h, 14 SeptemberWas curius since i were having thoughts of buying an Jubilee 2550 in a local store and put some sort of pedal like this into it, i’am not much of an tech cunning so i’am not sure, it sounds very good on clean so it just came to me as an idea.

Posted at 06:10h, 23 Septemberwhy would you put a marshall pedal infront of a marshall ? dont be shy, most marshalls have got a great attitude soundwise and and almost every marshall can get a decent AC/DC tone, by the way for the Money for a Jubilee you could also get a JTM Reissue / 1987x.
OldSchoolRocker666
Posted at 10:22h, 27 SeptemberHi again. Why? Well it’s not that i hate any tone or something, or any specific amp, i was unsure first about whetever i would choose between a great amp and a guitar, but seemingly it’s the guitar first and foremost you should priority first as i’ve heard. I don’t look into the Jubilee(its great but not as i want it to sound like) anymore since i already know which amp i will buy first(thinking about metro) 🙂
There is sadly one amp from marshall i dont like.. Jcm 900..
I don’t hate any amp really, or a tone in particular, but i will put money instead on a guitar, now that i know what amp i seek 🙂

Posted at 07:30h, 14 SeptemberGREAT SOUND!
I hope you will not get any problem with this site as you had when you got your Youtube channel closed, i doupt anything will happend but who knows..
All work you put into all stuff you do is very appritiated, i hope you’ll be able to keep all work safely without having to worry about it suffering the same fate as on Youtube, to have years of work scrapped in a minute.. Keep on rocking dude, we all here appritiate what you do, no one else puts as much effort as you do into stuff like that exept maybe some few but who else puts that much energy , effort and strife into Rock’n’roll, blues and studying music(can’t describe it in another way but i hope it’s accurate?) in that way? Few i would guess if hardly anyone, i don’t know, but keep rockin’, and have fun with the new amp! 🙂

Posted at 07:35h, 14 SeptemberThank you! 🙂 I’ll tell you my whole ambition, now I can say it. become a point of reference for classic rock gear and tone. And PLAYING. Worldwide. That’s it, not I said it. I’d love to turn this into my job actually, since no one I see has given their sites or blogs this particular twist I am giving mine. So, in time, I hope to bring pertinent advertising here, which will contribute to some costs of this whole operation. Until now, I did EVERYTHING myself bearing all the costs. Your words gave me that additional bit of energy I needed this morning, thank you 🙂

And yeah fil, if it means anything to you, this is the only place i go anymore to figure out how anything AC/DC is played- tone, style, whatever!
