07 Oct Powerage Era: AC/DC’s “Gimme A Bullet” (with SoloDallas Solo)

NOW I’m starting to have fun.

This video is the second one of the “debunking” series with the Schaffer-Vega Diversity.

As with the previous one, “Back in Black”, I intend to cover quite a few songs with the exact same equipment they used back then, or the closest approximation I have available.

I used the Schaffer-Vega here only on the solo  – which is my own thingnote – as I believe was on most albums since 1978 onward. I love the SVDS: did you know? (more…)

30 Sep The Definitive “Back in Black” featuring an original Schaffer-Vega Diversity System (UPDATED!)

BREAKING NEWS!

Well, I was talking over the phone with my long time Italian-Canadian friend “Max” (he’s a member here too). Max has lived for decades with a 1959 replacing his own heart. (more…)

15 Sep Playing “Clean” An Original Schaffer Vega Diversity at Borghesani’s/Cloe Guitars

It’s a little, foolish video we did the other day at the Lab.

I had heard suddenly  Daniel’s (the singer)  voice (he was silently and diligently working to some amp internals and at some point he went “Oh Ba-by!”) and I thought to myself “Woah there. Good singer”.

So I asked him to do a little blues jingle for 2 minutes.

I took the chance to play my Schaffer Vega with it.

Guitar is latest Luca’s (Cloe Guitars) 1959 Replica done to exacting specs. Great guitar.

Enjoy?

14 Sep The Sound Of The Schaffer Vega Diversity (Back in Black)

I know… I know! But you knew that I can’t get enough of it. It’s my passion, my torment, my obsession. And the most sold album worldwide, as well.

Well., let me update you a bit about what has been going on behind the curtains recently.

I knew – directly from Mr. Schaffer – that the “Angus Young” era of the Schaffer Vega came with a Receiver AND a specific type of transmitter.

It was the X10 – naturally – but a specific type of X10. It had (has) a black knob instead of the flat screw of the later models. I really wanted THAT X10 (because I knew that that would give me the sound I was looking for).

13 Sep “Back in Black” Tone Attempt (Cetec Vega Diversity)

I am silent, but that doesn’t mean I am not working. Hectically, actually (replica Schaffer, performances, new ideas, etc.).

I have studied more in depth and tried more experiments.

Here’s my latest attempt.

Hoping you’ll enjoy it,

Fil 🙂

Back in Black Cetec Vega FRONT Boost Latest Attempt

PS It was recorded with the Cetec Vega – not the Schaffer – as both my working units are at the lab!

02 Aug Ken Schaffer To SoloDallas Comic (SVDS)

While the most pleasing email exchange continues on between Mr. Ken Schaffer and myself,

he just wrote me yesterday – I am without Internet connection where I am right now: back from Spain to my seaside house, Telecom has a broken cable there and it’s taking 10 days to repair it – and I found a way to post it for you all today.

It is a 1978 Comic published on Guitar Magazine. An AD, likely.

Besides the fact that is purely lovely, please take a moment to read and discern who were the stars that were using the Schaffer Vega DIversity at the time

(I will list it here for you in case you can’t see it well: The Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Steve Miller, Mahogany Rush, Peter Gabriel, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, Johnny Guitar Watson, Stephen Stills (Crosby, Stills & Nash), Boston, Earth, Wind & Fire, Bay City Rollers, AC/DC, Chic, America, Bob Sieger, Kiss, Thin Lizzy, The Beach Boys, and lots more: fascinating find, I’d say, don’t you think?).

We love you Mr. Schaffer!
