23 Nov Slash’s “Ghost” (SoloDallas’ Cover) – Playing a Zemaitis Guitar
Surprised huh? (Laughs).
Well, although I NEVER liked Guns’n’Roses (and probably never will for plain reasons I can explain easily), I really like the latest Slash. And it ain’t easy either to play. Got a nice swing to this tune here.
For a number of reasons I “decided” to do this one. First, I simply like it. Secondly, I want to “speak” to a broader audience (for the good of SoloDallas.com/.net). As some of you probably know by now, this site will be “pay for” starting sometime soon in the future. Several reasons, some being, we need money to run it, I want to start paying copyrights and several others I will explain to you all soon..
I know I will “lose” the most of you (we are exceeding 7.5k registered members as of today), but in order for me to keep doing this – and with the “added seriousness of approach” I gave it in the last year, it has become a necessity. As I said several times, this could be a job to me, and I intend to delve into this possibility fully, before reverting to a more hobby-ish way of doing it (which would include less dedication unfortunately).
Here for you, with the usual Dedication, Respect and Love.

(Tech specs incoming)
Played with a 1977 Marshall 2203
Zemaitis Custom Shop BL501, original. Β I purchased this one some time ago, and never showed you (I still have several surprises for you in…storage).
Since Slash uses 70watt-ish speakers, I used my old Celestion G12-65s, which have easily become my favorite speakers.
Recorded with a single Neumann U47.

Posted at 18:13h, 20 DecemberSo nothing. The word “hate” should more often than not, be avoided. Because it can easily offend people who see it differently. For this, Freezer, I apologize to you personally. I always take responsibility for what is written here π
I don’t hate GnR personally, But I do dislike them π
I really like Mr. Slash though. The contemporary one.

Posted at 19:11h, 20 Decemberi “dislike” dance music cant stand it but i respect the creativity in it, music itself is a wonderful thing
i understand people take it very personaly and this is very sensative subject, if somone said to me i hate your dog (i dont have one btw) you would be hurt by it, same princable with your favorite band, you own one of their albums and somone said the same thing you would feel the same way
this is my view on this subject π
as hendrix once said Peace and happyness π
thinking about it (music and people) ACDC has a nack at bringing different together a lot of different people (when i mean different i mean culture, musical taste ect), when your in a crowed you cant help but jump with them when their cranking out a song its like you instantly become friends and cant help but like one another, take the start of whole lotta rosie for example live at river plate you will see what i mean π
im gona stop writing now before i go to far off track π

P.S. : why do you hate GN’R music ?

Posted at 12:51h, 08 DecemberHi Saul mate, and thank you π
Well I am not sure if the right word is “hate”. If I used it personally, I apologize. I don’t like it much as a word. I’d rather say I “dislike” GnR, specifically because of Mr. Axl Rose. I dislike profoundly his persona, his attitude, his stage presence and even his singing, which I believe is a byproduct of his personality. I always perceived it as a fake individual, exaggerated in most ways, under all points of views. It’s that “rock and roll” style of truly drugs ‘n’ rock and roll which I never believed into, and it’s not something I justify. I know AC/DC somehow got into that same thing back in the day – especially with Bon – but Bon somehow always managed – to my eyes – to remain that simple, nice individual that we all love to this day. Not so for Mr. Rose? I do like instead Slash, but not his earlier work with GnR, as I always found the tone of his guitar too gainy back then; fuzzy; a bit into the “metal” style of sound which was never a thing of mine. Here π These are really all the reasons!

Posted at 19:07h, 30 NovemberThat sounded great Fil!
I have grown a much deeper appreciation for Slash’s playing in the last couple years actually. I’ve been working on a few songs from their Appetite for Destruction album which the best one they ever did in my opinion. Have you ever paid much attention to a song on that album called “Out ta Get Me? The second part of his main solo in that song sound a little Angus inspired to me. There’s just a few bends and things he does there that make me think of him. It’s not surprising since his playing style is pretty well based in blues and classic 70’s rock. You should give it a listen some time! π
