just seen ur black dog barking cover ryley great job on that as well, def post ur airbourne covers here man π one thing though, at the end of the chorus’s when ur playing the b chord u should add the lick that joel does, I believe hes just doing pull offs on the 15 fret on the b string??
Angus is ALWAYS playing with the volume knob. i actually just converted the wiring in this guitar to 50’s wiring and they volume roll off is a lot more responsive, deffs a recommendation ! thanks for watchin buddy!
I had my friend put in this volume mod, its a tiny capacitor before the larger caps for the 50’s wiring and it acts as a “treble retainer” basically so i keep a lot of the top end clarity but get this crazy smooth and dynamic roll off. i’m also not using bumble bee caps so maybe that has something to do with it Ant?
Ant, that’s mostly affected by the type of pot you’re using (especially taper, as an audio taper pot will roll off from 10 much quicker than linear taper); it is also affected by your amplifier and probably the output of the pickup itself (how hot it is). Eg, I have a switchable input on my plexi, which allows me to use the original HUGE bright cap (4700pF) or a much smaller (100pF) which was found on amps like JTM50s. With the large cap, I need my volume near 6 to get 1970s Angus rhythm tone. But when I switch to the smaller cap, I bump my guitar volume up to 8 or so. My guitar volume is a linear pot, which is found on most recent SGs. Those from the 60s and probably into the 70s would have had audio taper pots.
Tried this one again with a bit of a twist, this SG now has 50’s wiring! And i also played with a boss blues driver set up for a clean boost (nice little sub before the TSR comes out π lol )

Posted at 14:36h, 11 JulyThanks Guys π
this “treble retainer” sounds like a good bet, any idea when the capacitor is and how to wire it up?
bit out of my depth in this field of things π
