yea was me π my best performance so far anyway π such a faf trying to get the camera right and do a half decent performance π
been playing the live river plate performance lately made a backing track out of it so i can do the whole performance, must say its quite awsome to do π
What are you using to make your backing tracks. I’ve tried a couple things but they all end up sounding like shit in the end or when I try to remove the lead guitar I end up losing something else along with it!
Thanks Ant!
I’ll check out youtube. The problem with some backing tracks I’ve found is either they are in a different key or the timing is wrong or THEY are just wrong in general. If I find some good backing tracks myself I’ll let you know too an d share them.
Definitely. The beauty with tube amps is that they are responsive to your attack on the strings. Play light it sounds cleaner pound them and they sound more driven and aggressive. I find this really helps with creating dynamics in a song.
Yes I agree with that. My new videos that I’m uploading I played really soft. I think Fil is right about the brushing thing. Which I strummed lightly in my others but these i brushed. BTW the solos and some of the rhythm on my new videos are going to be sloppy lol as i havent played the songs in a while.
Remember Fil saying that he found that brushing the strings like lightly strumming for AC/DC instead of hitting them hard? And its kinda sloppy playing though because i needed to practice the songs. I should have used the settings i used for hells bells on all of the BIB songs tho. It sounds a little better i think.
the videos are going to be a while though because its 9 and its not even 10 percent done yet. BTW nice playing.

Ok comment what you think of the tone cuz the playing aint good. i need to relearn the songs cuz i forgot how to play them. The tone you will hear on hells bells is what i should have used for every BIB album song. It may not be up until tomorrow but ima try and get it up tonight. i think it was the best i found.

What amp are you playing through again? Did you mention you have a Class 5?
Angusrocks101
Posted at 03:41h, 16 March
Yes i am playin through a class 5 but the secret is my digitech bad monkey tube overdrive pedal. With bass on 6 class 5 alone would be muddy but with it it works. I set the level and gain to what Fil did on some of his videos.

well level and gain to his settings for the SVDS. I think pedals idea of smooth tube overdrive is a SVDS.

How do you have the pedal set up? What are the knobs? Level, Tone and Drive or something like that?
Angusrocks101
Posted at 03:57h, 16 March
level low high and gain. level 3 eq 12 o’clock and gain 7 but the gain can differ from 5 to 10 or even lower. for rhythm and solos but level always like 3.

Have you tried cranking the level, lowering the gain (like almost off) and maybe adding a little more treble? That way you’ll be boosting the sound of your amp more than coloring the sound with the pedal. You’ll be getting more of the amp’s tube overdrive that way too. …just a though tor something to try out.

yes and that gives like more of a highway to hell sound possibly. the pedal isnt distortion or anything so adding gain doesnt like distort over the top i think it actually boost very similar to the SVDS. i think thats what digitechs idea of tube overdrive is. a SVDS. It works better how i set it and it doesnt color the sound that much it actually in person does what Fil describes the SVDS does.
I just use my SG into an MXR Dyna Comp with the level dimed and the sensitivity just barely above 1 or 2 (for some added compression and sustain) and then straight into the amp and played with the amp’s EQ until it sounded right to me. I also rolled back the bass and mids a bit because I think I had them a bit too high for the last ones I did.

Posted at 17:31h, 15 Marchi guess theres a sweet spot between playing hard and playing soft to get that right sound, so many variations
