Renato @ Florida; I bought and started learning to play guitar about two years ago, a bit late in life (I am 39). Still a beginner, but motivated and inspired by Fil and other 'bedroom rockers'.
I've been posting a few videos here and sound bites on soundcloud, as sort of a logbook with snippets of how my playing (hopefully) evolves, and it may help inspire others who love music to take an instrument, practice, play, and have fun.

Posted at 22:18h, 04 AprilWow its great to see you improe π it just goes to show what practice can do hehe
what version of GR4 you using?
rjofig
Posted at 05:36h, 06 AprilThanks, Ant!
I upgraded to GR4 full but actually I am not using any features that were not in the essential version.
Here’s something weird I noticed, I just played this vid on my iphone and I don’t hear my channel. I wonder if youtube replaced the audio w/ the original, since they automatically flagged it anyway. Or if they stream only one audio channel to the iphone if you’re not on wifi. Got to check on another computer…

Posted at 09:39h, 06 Aprili found that on my vids on my phone and on certain mp3 players. i think its to do with the way it channels the channels lol
do you use audacity to do the mixing? i do π
rjofig
Posted at 15:41h, 06 AprilYeah, I used audacity; this time it seems I kept the two channels separate (original left, mine right) and did not mix them, something to remember for the next vid. tks!

Posted at 20:13h, 30 MarchYeah! Now you are playing full songs you will improve significantly in the following months. It’s a huge statement to yourself that your practise is paying off. Well Done!

Posted at 20:49h, 30 MarchThanks, Rob! Yeah, I listened to a solo I had recorded six months ago, and it was really dry, it’s noticeably better (to me) now. I hope I’ll be saying the same thing about this one six months from now π Cheers!

Posted at 20:11h, 30 MarchNice tone. Timing is good and it’s not simple.

Posted at 20:42h, 30 MarchThanks, man! Guitar Rig gives a pretty decent tone, I recommend it. Fil’s motto of simple ain’t easy applies here, it’s hard to get this riff right

Posted at 19:27h, 30 MarchCongrats!
Tone is better than mine! And as you said it’s a milestone, no doubt about it. Cool, cool playing, solo is good, just add bit vibrato. I watched it with glee!!

Posted at 20:17h, 30 MarchThank you, sir!!
Tone-wise – for rhythm and solo, it’s pretty much default Guitar Rig 4 Angus settings, volume adjustments on the guitar and the amp/cab models, and a bit of equalization.
Vibrato is a constant work in progress, one day I hope it will become second nature π
Cheers!

Posted at 18:11h, 30 MarchNice playing, Renato! You managed to play a whole song, that’s very great. I think, I’ll throw a party when I manage to play a full song π I’m still working on the solo, or better: I should continue my work on it instead of playing around with pedals π
And it seems that it’s still a bit tough for you, right?
rjofig
Posted at 18:32h, 30 MarchThanks, Franz – absolutely, still *very* tough for me. Took me about 2 hours and tens of attempts to get one to this point, but yeah, I’m happy to be able to play a full song. There’s a lot to improve, but it’s a milestone π
Cheers!

Posted at 19:57h, 30 MarchYes, it’s definitely a milestone. Congrats! π
