03 Jan Preparing delivery of the first 25 Schaffer Replica units
Dear Members,
Franz picked up the first 25 built units from the shop today. Now we’ll prepare the delivery. Means: getting packaing material, price quotes for delivery to different countries, writing and printing invoices, attaching the “Gold Tag” brass plates, shooting a photo of each single unit for each buyer, doing a short sound test (functional tests and burn in has been already done at the shop) and writing the delivery notification emails. They will be sent out at about tomorrow, Saturday, 4th January, somewhen in the afternoon/evening.
To mention the procedure again: Every buyer will get a “ready for delivery” notification email with a photo of his unit and we’ll ask for the final part of the payment. After the final payment came in, we’ll immediately send the unit. Insured to the full amount and with tracking. Tracking number will be sent via mail, of course.
And as usual, I’ll end the post with a few photos. The unit you see there, is #001, brass plate not yet attached. Higher quality photos will follow later. Enjoy!
Now that’s a good place for a Gold Tag: on top of a Marshall 1959, right? π
And, by the way: the manual is almost done too, Fil is working on the introduction text and proofreading everything.

Posted at 03:08h, 19 JanuarySo do you need to engage the foot switch for the boost to work? Or can you set it to on and then take out the foot switch, and it will remember the settings leaving it on, or off where it was left?

Posted at 03:59h, 19 JanuaryThe settings are compression [input] & boost [output]. You adjust each to your taste. The footswitch then switches the unit from bypass (guitar to amp) to active (guitar > TSR > amp)

Posted at 05:21h, 07 JanuaryHello Friends !!! The units look great ! I can’t wait to try it out with my Angus guitars, and others too. I am sorry for even asking, but would you please be so kind as to tell me what number I am on the wait list. I have been onboard since March of last year. Thanks, and Let There Be Rock !

Posted at 01:29h, 07 JanuaryI remember reading about someone behind the replica work had a connection to Angus and possibly sending him a Schaffer Vega. Is he still going to get one?

Posted at 00:40h, 07 JanuaryHello solo. Hows it looking towards sending out the rest of the Gold Tags? Just received my brand new 2012 Gibson SG 61 Reissue Custom Shop VOS Guitar. Oh how yummy it is, and my Custom T-Top bridge pickup is going to arrive this week. YIPPY! Now its plugged into my YJM100 and 1936 cabinet, sounds so sweet – yet no gold tag!! Noooooooooooooo! Love an update. I’m number 76

Posted at 07:07h, 07 JanuaryHello Jason, as I wrote in my email to you: we can’t determine any delievery dates for you yet, sorry. The Gold Tags are being build in batches of 25 units, and your #79 will be in the 4th batch. Will take some time.

Posted at 17:53h, 04 JanuaryMate, this is from an earlier article published here:
“SoloDallas.com is now an Italian Company (SoloDallas S.r.l, fully legislated by Italian law, Partita IVA 12175121008).”
So, the answer to your question is: Yes!
It was mentioned here: http://www.solodallas.com/secure-an-early-schaffer-replica-pedal-now/

Posted at 00:54h, 05 JanuaryHi
I just sent you anothe email address , sorry for the late reply I am working night shifts at the moment
banane
Posted at 01:01h, 05 JanuaryThank you, will try that one in 5 minutes. I tried it two times before, one with the photo of your Gold Tag, one without. Both came back with only “email rejected” as error message, so I dont have any clue why the email was rejected.
Maybe its because of the word “Replica”. Will rewrite yours.

Posted at 04:26h, 04 JanuaryI’m confused about the power switch. Wasn’t the on/off (or monitor) knob what turns the unit on?
Either way, I am so excited that we’re this close to getting the product! Awesome work Franz and Fil. π

Posted at 04:34h, 04 JanuaryWe’ll figure it out π
banane
Posted at 08:27h, 04 JanuaryGood question. The SVDS had its power switch at the front, on the monitor/front output volume, as you said.
Putting the power switch on the rear was a recommendation of our tech, to reduce possible hum, because you don’t have to run the power cables through the whole unit.
That’s why the plexi prototype versions only have two knobs on the front.
But we wanted the same “face” as the SVDS, so we added a third knob switch that turns the whole audio signal on/off, no matter if the replica engaged via foot switch or not. Comes handy during playing breaks.

Posted at 08:39h, 04 JanuaryPower for the unit at the back, engage the circuit with the front on/off knob or foot switch.
Nice!
All the best for today Franz, a big day for SD.com!
banane
Posted at 09:04h, 04 JanuaryYes, thanks π The foot switch works as a passthrough switch. In passthrough mode (its a real passthrough with relay) the guitar signal is not altered by the Replica but goes straight to the amp. The on/off knob turns the audio signal off, so no guitar signal will go to the amp, independent from the foot switch.
That gives you more flexibility and you dont need to turn the compression (input) and boost (output) knobs on zero during playing breaks. Just leave your settings and turn the audio signal off.

Posted at 16:05h, 04 JanuaryAh, okay. Pretty neat how being efficient led to another cool idea (turning off the audio signal). π
