Minor Schaffer-Vega Replica Prototype Test in simulated band context

22 Dec Minor Schaffer-Vega Replica Prototype Test in simulated band context

Using a Drum Loop found on youtube. I often look out for inspiring drum loops.

Three guitars used, left 1963 Gretsch Firebird, right and center recent Gibson 1959 Les Paul Replica.

Bass is 1974 firebird.

ProToTest

Amplifier used is 1976 Marshall 1959. settings are presence 0, bass 5, mids 3, treble 5, volume 6.

Prototype settings are TX compression/gain 3 o’clock; output clean boost 10 o’clock for Les Paul, 9 o’ clock Gretsch (cleaner).

I am only playing with the prototype of recent. Despite it being hissy (PLEASE NOTE: all guitars were “gated” here) it does bring me back my beloved original Schaffer-Vega Diversity vibe.

    Hello everyone.
    As somewhat related question.
What do you think about Angus’ tone in this song?
Somehow it sounds a bit different.

thanks for the help dries, appreciate it πŸ™‚ also, ive got a marshall 3203 artist head and the marshall ax and bx cabs, should i buy a marshall 2203 head or should i focus on getting better speakers for my cabs first??

That Ax and bx cab are great. Indeed replace your artist head, but don’t buy a 2203 without trying it, its fairly different than a non mv model..

Hey Fil, if you ever need a real drum track, I’ve been playing drums for twice as long as I’ve been playing guitar. I can record anything you guys need.

Hyce, if you pick any ac/dc song you like, or some generic groovy bluesy tune and get a drum/bass track going, I think many here would pick it up πŸ™‚ merry xmas sir!

Thank you πŸ™‚ Must be honest (me) I like this little jingle.
It as usual may sound way too simple (it is) but boy, did it take me a while to put it down. This timing is really tough to pull. And the hardest part? Bass playing!

Yes, but aren’t the simplest things the best? That’s the reason why we do love this style of music (and AC/DC particularly), isn’t it?

        That bass is groovy! πŸ™‚

Thank you πŸ™‚ To be considered: the 1959 at 6 is almost clean, really. So the overdrive here is really a byproduct of the replica. This is why I did this little thing: to put in evidence the midrange that this thing has to offer, including the huge clean boost and sweet compression. This is definitely my sound now.
You know when one used to have in his mind one sound? This is mine. Can be microphoned in a million ways, equalized and so on to obtain thousands of variations, but the strong basis for the sound I like personally is all here πŸ™‚

I’m a big fan of that tone too. Now, as I have a 1987 (big smile πŸ™‚ ), I can say that love that tone a lot. Probably even more than my 2204. And funny enough, I have my volume also most times around 6 or 7.

6!!!! my 1959 doesnt overdrive like that at 6, man I need to get me some higher output pickups and a clean boost hehe,

        that sounded awsome Fil! πŸ™‚

That’s one of the tasks that bother me when it comes to record the sound of my amp. I love my gear, especially the 1976 JMP 100W Master Volume, but if I want to get a decent “recorded sound” I have to tweak so many things that the sound I hear while playing is truly awful, even if the recording sounds OK. That means, I use two different main settings, one for playing around for fun, and another one for recording =)
