They say GEC KT88s (old vintage KT88s) are the best of the bunch when it comes to KT88s in generall.
However, i’ve been looking around for a great great modern replica of those GECs, one that should be able to hold for very long time but also should have the same sound quality and sound simply equally amazing, and i looked into GENERALEX Gold Lion KT88s, they say they are great..
Then i looked into cryo-treated Svetlana KT88 for info and they to should sound great.
But here’s one ”beast” costwise which they SAY should sound equall if not ”better” than all the others, i doupt they sound better than the original GEC KT88s but here it comes , E.A.T KT88 Diamond – I’ve read around about them and what most people complain about them is their riddiculus price: $1395 US for matched quads! But then i read about them trying to get info if they do sound as great as the factory promise and most people were stunned in fact, i’am not sure how they would sound in a guitar amp but hopefully they are the best replacement for original vintage GEC KT88s, not thinking about buying a quad of them yet, i may do in future to test them in an eventuall Super Lead Metro so to see how great they are, but that’s another story 🙂
I think KT88s overall(great copies that is) sound simply amazing, might as well try them out one day 🙂
