Just for Fun: Rock’n Roll ain’t noise pollution!?

22 Jun Just for Fun: Rock’n Roll ain’t noise pollution!?

Hello Guys,

just for a little laugh: Today, I found this on the bulletin board of our appartment house. English translation is below:

English translation:

Dear Sir or Madam!
Due to complaints regarding hours and hours of making music in an overdimensional level of loudness we would like to1 bring some poins of the house rules to your attention:

Point 12):
Sleep-and siesta times: Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. it’s not allowed to disrupt the night rest time, between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. it’s not allowed to disrupe the siesta time.

Operating Radios, TVs or HiFis and making music must be done at room loudness level.

Point 13):
Noise pollutions: In the appartments and in the stairways every extraordinary noise pollutions must be avoided. Especially consider tenants with small childs or night workers.

In the sense of a good neighborhood, we ask you to consider the above points.

Kind regards,
xxx

Guys, did you read this? “Overdimensional level of loudness”! Feeling sort of proud now. And, well, I adjusted my Attenuator again.

Cheers,

Franz

Fully classic rock addicted, don't like "modern" music styles like HipHop. 2009 I got a Gibson SG standard ebony, learning to play AC/DC songs from tabs and videos since then. Hehe, well, yes and no. At least you know who complained, I dont. Everyone is nice and smiles when you meet them and behind your back they complain about you being too loud. Don’t like this. But well, I wrote an own note on the bulletin board that I am the one who makes the noise and complains should go directly to me. But nobody rang the doorbell yet πŸ™‚

I live in a house with a garden, but my neighbours are still complaining sometimes. But I only have a PPIMV in my amp… however, it’s still able to bring the amp down to bedroom levels, but it totally messes up the sound at those levels. So I usually set it to a point where the tone is not getting away. And that’s pretty loud πŸ˜€

Yeah, similar here. I got quite good results with my attenuator, but its just not the same as playing loud. Well, I guess thats our destiny πŸ™‚

        Posted at 22:51h, 23 June

Yeah, I feel the same… maybe you can turn an amp down to talking level, and still get the same tone, but you lose the FEEL πŸ™‚ It needs to be loud, to get that real feeling. I’m not talking about insane 100W loudness, but somewhere between that, and the bedroom level. At this level the tone is untouched, and you also got the feel πŸ™‚ Because it’s still pretty loud

Yes, exactly…you need to feel it, at least a little bit. Without that, there’s missing something.

Spray on the wall of the building big inscription
“Rockk and roll aint noise pollution” or ” let there be rock you…”.
Or go to some autorithies and start with:
“regarding to rock and roll band ac/dc rock and roll aint noise pollution … “

Oh oh Franz Franz, what did you do friend πŸ™‚
    That`s the reason why i have a 2x12th box, because a 4 x 12th is unbelievable loud !
But tonewise is a 4 x12th box the best thing you can have πŸ™‚
I have an own house and my gear is in the cellerbar, but over this cellerbar is living my old mother so i can`t play very loud either.
If i had the money i would build a little studio in my garden, because there is a lot of space, but i will see later……
Yes, saaad that they can`t talk with you from person to person, very poor !!

Yeah, I’ll try switching my cab to stereo, then only 2 of 4 speakers will run. Lets see how this will turn out.

Well, at least it’s your own house. Why not make some noise isolation in the basement?

Yeah, I would also prefer the face to face talk. Just saying “Mate, you’re just too loud” isnt that difficult…

no, that should not be too difficult, absolutely not ! Feige feige Menschen, naja, die gibts ΓΌberall, leider.
Noise isolation is good, but my cellerbar is not very high and if i would isolate the walls i had to go with my head down all the time πŸ˜‰
        Unfortunalety i am 1,89m tall.

Ah, I see. I would isolate the walls if its our flat, so I have peace then, but we just rented it. Well, yeah, building up a little studio from ground on would be a lot of work and costs a lot of money. However, at least you have the place for it, thats already good πŸ™‚

Go loud or nothing, thats marshall law!

I had neighbors once on a different street than I live tell me that they have heard me playing

      Posted at 10:01h, 23 June

Yeah, similar thing for me. Last Monday or so my daughter could hear me playing down on the street as she went back home from the school. While I was on the 5th floor and on the other side of the house πŸ™‚
It’s unbelieveable what a single 4×12″ cab can do, loudness-wise. And I play with an attenuator, with amp volume around 4 and the attenuator also half open. But yesterday I made some tests and found that all closed doors in our flat vibrate when I play, even on the walls 2 rooms away you can still feel it. Probably bad construction/noise isolation.

Franz, a freak accident of nature and your guitar and amp together have become uberdimensionaler. Your playing was heard in parallel universes. This is a message from them. You have made contact πŸ™‚

Franz, without a calibrated decibel meter, tell them to pound salt.. The volume you use is room level, your room level, tee hee.. Everyone has their own level of loud, yours is just different. And they couldn’t identify themselves, what’s up with that?.. Was that notice directed at you? Soon there will be an angry mob with torches and pitchforks knocking down your door for playing your music to loud, then they will drag you into the woods and torch your guitar and amp.. KIRK

Hehe, no, it wasnt directed at me. Thats a funny behaviour in our house here. When there are conflicts, almost everyone writes the house administration and they put a note on the bulletin board, directed to everyone in the house. I dont like this. Everone is nice when you meet up in the elevator, but could be that it was him or her who wrote the complains.

My neighbors from above like my playing and I ask them to tell me if I ever play too loud and they agree. So I dont even know who complained.

Well, some days ago my wife went out accidentially in the 4th floor instead of the 5th where our flat is, and could me clearly hear playing, loud and poweful. The other day my daughter came home from school and heard me playing down on the street while out living room where I play is on the other side of the house. So “my personal room level” was probably really loud, hehehe πŸ™‚

But there will never be an angry mob due to this strange behaviour of not even talking about problems.

The funny is that they spent time to write all this instead of knock your door and
1 case: Politely ask you to play in lower levels
    2 case: Start Shouting
3 case: See a lawyer at the front of your door smiling.

Must still laugh when I read this. However, on a higher attenuation level the sound is not that good yet.
