Thank´s Jeba, would really appreciate if u could tell me (us) the main differences between (current) SG standard & ´61 reissue, beside the price diff, which is about what, a 1000 bucks approx, right?
Ciao !
Well from what I have gathered, the main differences in sound are that the 61′ is brighter and I feel it sounds more “alive” somehow.
The standard sounds a bit muddier and fatter if that’s what you want, the pups on the 61′ are 57 classics, which are kind of made as PAF reissues, and this is probably the biggest reason for the brighter sound of the 61′ Reissue.
The neck of the 61′ is also slimmer, which in my opinion feels better. And of course all the visual differences like the small pickguard, slightly different color, bigger headstock and also a Rosewood fretboard. The new standars have fretboards that are made of maple that they “bake” to make it darker.
If you’re looking into buying either of these I’d suggest you should go try them out for real.
My 61′ Reissue cost me a bit under 1500€ and the standard would be something like 1050-1100€ i think.
Hope it helps 🙂
Jerry
I will try them both of course, though I don´t think I´ve seen a ´61 reissue hanging in any stores yet…
There´s also a cheaper ´61 “Satin reissue” I believe, but I don´t consider it as a second choice option.
Merci beaucoup Jerry !
Anyone else, please feel free to provide feed back about
SG standard & ´61 reissue.
Thanks 🙂
Well i started out with acoustic guitar for 2 years when i was 8 or 9, and then switched to electric. I’m now 16 so i guess about 5 or 6 years electric 🙂 Don’t have a fraction of the experience some guys here do though 😉
Wow, excellent!! My sons are around 8-9, I’ve tried to encourage them to start playing but so far they haven’t; maybe I should show them a video of you 🙂
Cheers!
Thanks 🙂
It may be a good idea to start with acoustic guitar at first too with a good teacher. My first teacher wasn’t very good but somehow I managed to keep my interest. I’ve been taking lessons from a really good teacher for a couple of years now, and it does make a difference. Many of the songs we play are songs I’d never think of learning, but the playing improves by itself learning different styles. That’s how it is for me atleast 🙂
Glad you liked it 😀
That was smokin’ man! I can tell when someone looks comfortable and at ease with a guitar in their hands and you do. I wouldn’t worry either about whatever mistakes you think you made. If you were playing this live with no backing track to compare it to no one would EVER hear the difference… except you of course 😉
Hi 😀
This is the solo of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird”. It’s not 100% accurate and in no way perfect. Should probably have had another take but it’s too much of a hassle to do it all over again. I plan to do the whole song soon too. It’s a real fun solo though 😉
Had to do it in black and white too because of a lot of noise due to poor lighting.

Hope you like it!
