AC/DC Covers

11 Jan A Collaboration: AC/DC’s “Hells Bells”, Featuring Jaiminho Pagina & SoloDallas

Well, I love collaborations. Not that I did many to tell the truth 😛 This is my second one, and my second one with André. I like working with André.

We worked hard – the both of us – on as many aspects we could on this as it was possible to us. But let me introduce you to the video performance first, chatter later.

17 Dec AC/DC’s “Have A Drink On Me” (Metro Cover)

Some time passed huh? Thanks for staying with me!

Here’s a cover of “Have A Drink On Me” that George Metropoulos (MetroAmp Founder and Owner) has asked me to play along. The original backing track is played by George himself (with a Metro amp of his) and his band.

The original video (without my parts) can be found here:

I added some guitars on top of it. Rhythm and Solo, plus some other part “underneath”.

I played this one exclusively with a Metro JTM50, boosting channel one with a clean boost (no overdrive, just volume boost) to add some drive. A bit like Angus used to do with his Schaffer Vega. Result is as you hear it. Can be made better, no doubt. The guitar is a 1966/1967 “issue” Gibson SG Standard that sounds and plays like butter (you’ll still have to fight with it to resemble Angus’ tight playing).

I chose another camera angle for this one, as I wanted you to see a bit of the mess I play in! 😛

I hope you’ll enjoy. With this, I’ll revert to “posting mode”. Been away almost three full weeks… good to “see” you all again!

FIl 🙂

10 Nov AC/DC’s “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” New Series

Well, with the arrival of the Aracom PRX150 DAG (Power Attenuator) I can finally reach new heights. Why? Because this is a REAL attenuator, like I’ve never owned before (review coming soon). This attenuator – a passive one – lets me crank properly any amplifier power section – included the ones of MVs amps, such a 2203 or a 2204, as in the case with this video – and obtain finally proper sound. I know, I seem a bit too revolutionary, but please listen for yourself.

06 Nov AC/DC’s “Up To My Neck in You” (Studio)

This is probably one of my favorite AC/DC songs of the early times, and one of my favorite “performances” of myself, too. Surprising maybe a bit, don’t you think? A rather obscure song.

Truth is, that this song is a blast to play. Will make you pant once you’re done, really tight timing.

This video was shot in my former recording studio, Studio58a.

Guitar used here was my 1970 Gibson SG Standard played on a reissue Marshall head and cabinet, being a 1987XL Modified by David Bray and a 1960B cabinet with reissue (at the time) G12Ms.
