26 Oct Current State Of The Schaffer Replica Development – Gold Tag Version – Part I

Dear members,

this posting is dedicated to the current status of the making of our Replica, which we called officially “The Schaffer Replica”.

So, what’s the current state? As per today, the 26th October 2012, we have:

• Case: Prototyping status
• Electronics: Circuits, Schematics and sound testing done, awaiting case prototype to make the final PCBs (yes, there are two in the final product) fit into the case

We also accomplished to find original SVDS tuner knobs which will be made for us for the most possible original look.

To get further with the case we made a few prototypes in plexiglass to have something in our hands before we order hundred or more metal cases. You know, making sure that everything fits.

So, this is what we have for now, case-wise. We got them from the shop yesterday evening and brought them to our tech Markus for assembling. And because they look so cool (at least we like them), we’ll have a comeback of the Raiders in early November and make a few videos with them.

Dear members,

here we go. This is the preorder page for the Gold Tag version of the SVDS Replica.

To sum up the facts, what will you get with the Gold Tag version of the SVDS Replica?
An identical sounding replica of the Schaffer-Vega Diversity System wireless guitar device used by Angus from 1978 to circa 1982 and many other famous bands in late 70s and 80s like The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Kiss, The Grateful Dead, Peter Frampton, Aerosmith, Earth, Wind & Fire, Black Sabbath and Van Halen.

• An almost identical looking case with original tuner knobs, VU meter and everything. The same “face” as the original.
• 100% identical sound. With way more boost capabilities.
• We will produce 100 units which will be personally signed und numbered by Mr. Schaffer himself.
• It will even include the cool stickers you see on the sides of the original SVDS. See below.
• The SVDS Replica will NOT operate as a wireless unit. You plug your guitar in on the front and connect it to your amp on the back. But of course you can use a wireless unit between guitar and Replica.

The official price will be USD $550 for buyers outside the European Union (no VAT) and EUR €422,22 excluding VAT (add your local VAT) for buyers inside the European Union, both excluding postal costs .

Pre-payment is USD $350 for buyers outside the European Union and EUR €300, for buyers inside the European Union. The  rest of USD $200 (outside EU) or EUR € 122,20 (inside EU) plus the postal costs is to be payed when your personal unit is ready for delievery to you.

How to order?

• Basically: first come, first serve. And members will be served first, too.
• Send a mail to replica-preorder@solodallas.com
• Be sure to mention your name, your solodallas.com member name (orders from members will be preferred), your address and any wishes for your signature
• We’ll send you a PayPal account for the pre-payment.
• After we receive the pre-payment, your order is fixed and your unit will be produced. Your member name will be listed here
• As soon as your unit is built and signed, you’ll receive a mail from us with a notice and the postal costs.
• After we receive the rest of the payment, your unit will be sent to you.

That’s it. We know, you’ll like it. And if in doubt, just wait for more photos/videos/sound samples.
