Posted at 17:37h, 16 OctoberAIR Lyndhurst Studio #2 has the legendary Neve A7976 console (one of three ordered by AIR Studios in 1977), the brainchild of three of the best respected names in pro audio, George Martin of AIR, Geoffrey Emerick and Rupert Neve. AC/DC likes to record on sister console A6630 located at Bryan Adams’ Wharehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC. The first console A4792 was on the island of Montserrat used to record The Police’s “Ghost in the Machine”. The console now resides at A&M Recording Studios in Los Angeles. The late 70s‑early 80s era saw some of the tightest bands/line-ups ever: Young bros., Police, Rush, Santana, Black Sabbath, Scorpions, Def Leppard (Collen&Clark), Yes (White, Squire, Howe & new blood), etc. A very magical time.

Posted at 14:09h, 16 OctoberThat’s fantastic, Fil!
It will take your recording to the new level, for sure! I can’t even imagine it, because your recordings are great already. We will see and hear!
Regarding Mr. Tony Platt – you probably can’t get any better tutor. Real cream of the crop among sound engineers/mixers/producers. He’s the legend in my book and produced/engineered some of my non-AC/DC favourite albums like Krokus’ One Vice at a Time (“Album that AC/DC never recorded” as they say), Motörhead’s Another Perfect Day and both Starfighters’ albums (btw. real gems, any Fightstarters fans here?).
Could you please personally thank him for his excellent job on our community’s behalf? 🙂
Btw. guess who is doing Production Masterclasses, too?
Another legend – Mr. Mark Opitz himself! More info here: http://www.studios301.com/sydney/markopitzmasterclass.htm
P.S.: Don’t want to act like hairsplitter, but I noticed that you keep writing his surname as “Optiz”. Actually, it is “Opitz”. 😉
