Posted at 07:22h, 10 MayThey’re best live performance IMO.
I’m very curious about Mal’s speakers here.
I have no idea what they could be. SGACE has told me they could be V30’s but he’s not sure. His tone is incredibly warm and clean here so obviously they’re high wattage speakers.
Can anyone else shed some light on this?

Posted at 17:23h, 26 AprilWatching these made me have a thought. Does “piggybacking” amps make a change in tone? Or does it just make for louder sound? Really? It looks to me that Angus has 2 “large box” heads…100 watters? And 1 “small box” 1987??? I would imagine that piggybacking 2 different amps would make a tone change as opposed to doing 2 like models?
So I guess my thought is….. if the tone/character would significantly change who’s to say Angus didn’t do this in the studio??????? Could that be a missing link as well??? Since I only have a single amp I can’t try this theory. FIIIIIIIILLLLLLLL, have you tried this at all??? 😛

Posted at 17:26h, 26 AprilYou mean just connecting one amp to the other and then to the cab to mix up the tone of both amps, Jon?

Posted at 17:31h, 26 AprilYeah, exactly. 🙂 I know guys like Mike Campbell (Tom Petty) piggy a Fender Reverb with an Vox AC-30 to achieve a certain tone. So I’m thinking mixing 2 different Marshalls (1987 with 2203 fo example) would have the same result in tone change??? ❓ For the better….. I don’t know. 😉

Posted at 15:44h, 26 AprilI’ve made some screenshots, which could be interesting. 🙂
On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd picture you can see the silver box, which is standing on the stack over there. Is it right, that there is an antenna?
I can’t see an indicator which is glowing in the marshalls, except in picture 4. There you see the only stack, where I saw a microphon at the cabinet.

Posted at 15:48h, 26 AprilCool. Indeed, looks like an antenna. Basically and not anymore surprisingly, he may be using the boost of the wireless system. There has to be one, there is always one.

Posted at 15:54h, 26 AprilYou are right the indicator are off… again I think that they try to fool around with us..

Posted at 11:03h, 10 MayThat looks a bit like a Samson reciever. I think Angus used a wireless system from them around the mid 90´s. I think the transmitter was called UT-5 and the receiver was called UR-5.
But it may also be something completely different.

Posted at 10:51h, 26 AprilAng does like actually sound like he’s on a 2204. Anyone else’s opinion?

Posted at 12:27h, 26 Aprilhis sound is so sharp and bright, i also think it is something like 2204, 03.

Posted at 16:27h, 26 AprilYeah, right, same impression here. But the amp itself looks more like a 1959?

Posted at 10:43h, 26 AprilInteresting Ang’s tone. Sounds very overdriven. Either a MV, OR a 4 holer (NMV) with a boost. Again, it’s always the same matter, over and over. It could also be a modded 4 holer, but must have been seriously modded. This sound is vaguely reminiscent of the “Let There Be Rock” the movie, less driven indeed, but it’s closed on the high freqs (microphone maybe). Mal is a lot more bright, Ang is darker (must be, because of the additional drive). Sooner or later, I WILL debunk this as well 😉
